Performance reviews are not only relevant in the workplace, they are also essential for personal development. At the beginning of the year, beyond the typical ‘new year new me’ mantra, you probably set actionable goals. Hopefully, you didn't run this year on vibes and inshallah.
So if you did infact set attainable goals and timeline for your career and personal growth, did you achieve them? Especially now that we are inching close to the beginning of the festive shenanigans, this is the best time to conduct a personal review of your performance.
Ask yourself questions like;
- Did I achieve all the goals I set out to achieve?
- Did I put in my best at work- what will my performance review say about my work?
- Did I make an attempt to grow my career and my network this year?
These are some important questions that can give us insight as to whether or not we truly deserve to have a detty december. Activities like working hard, meeting deadlines and showing up at work everyday are good, but they also needs to be strategic. There should be tangible results.
If you didn’t have any goal at the start of the year or you haven't achieved any of your goals, that's fine. What's important is introspection and self-awareness to the fact. Now is a good time, however, to set your goals. Perform that personal performance audit, observe your results and restrategize new goals for the new year.
